Singapore Colorectal Surgeon, Dr Ng Kheng Hong graduated from Faculty of Medicine, National University of Singapore and subsequently obtained his post-graduate MRCS in 2002. After the attainment of Master of Medicine in Surgery in the following year, he started his Advance Surgical Training in General Surgery with Singapore General Hospital.
In 2006, Colon Surgeon, Dr Ng was admitted as a Fellow to the Royal College of Surgeon, Edinburgh after successful completion of his advanced surgical training.
Colon and rectal cancer is the cancer of the large intestine. It is currently the most common cancer in Singapore and the incidence is still increasing at alarming rate. There are approximately 1500 new cases of colon and rectal cancer in Singapore every year, affecting mainly people more than 50 years of age.
Piles are a very common problem in Asia. Piles are an abnormal swelling of blood vessels in the anus. Sometimes, these swellings can enlarge gradually to become a big lump at the anus. At other times, these blood vessels swelling can burst and result in passage of fresh blood from the anus after defecation.
