Keyhole Surgery

Also known as

  • Laparoscopic surgery
  • Minimally invasive surgery (MIS)

What is keyhole surgery?

Keyhole surgery is a modern surgical technique in which operations in the abdomen are performed through small incisions. This is not like traditional open surgery which requires a very long cut in the abdomen, which resulted in very significant pain after surgery.

Benefits of Keyhole Surgery

There are a number of advantages to the patient with laparoscopic surgery versus an open procedure.

  • Reduced pain due to smaller incisions
  • Less chance of wound infection
  • Shorter recovery time
  • Shorter hospital stay
